Got permission to hunt a place just north of Rusk off hwy 69. Haven't hunted down that way in years and was wondering how it was so far? Any idea of when the rut takes place? Thanks

There have been some nice bucks seen and taken in that area over the last few years. Don't know how far north you are, but I know for a couple of miles there it is good. Have some friends on small leases in the area. As for the rut, not yet. Bucks still hanging together on trail camera pics. Did have three sparring for about an hour on Monday. I hunt SW of Rusk, and typically see the most bucks cruising between the 2nd and 3rd week of November.

Bucks are cruising now. You will see a couple bucks together every once and a while now but for most part there seperated. From now til around November 14 it will be the time to be out. My son shot a buck chasing a doe this morning. I live 15 miles west of Rusk.

There should be plenty of good deer around Dialville. I'm over in Maydelle / Mt. Hope area. Hunted all weekend with the kids. Each of the four hunts (daughter and I on one stand and son on another) we saw several groups of does, and no bucks chasing.

Our ranch is outside of Alto so I hope to know tomorrow.. Have heard from a neighbor that he has seen a few bucks chasing, but saw three young ones in a group two days ago?

I'm west of Maydelle near the river. I am seeing some activity but not what I'd call full-on rut activity.

four bucks moving through this afternoon, no does in sight. Necks are swollen and seeing new scrapes. Mixed what I am hearing from people around, some deer killed are chasing does and some just eating corn. Should really kick up soon.

The does are hiding from bucks here. When we see a big mature doe she has a buck close behind her or she acts like she's on crack, scared and looking around everywhere and very jumpy to anything else coming out. I suspect a lot of rut activity is happening at night also. The last couple days have been better since the cooler weather. Driving home today about 2pm there was tons of deer out in fields . I think tomorrow I'll try to hunt early around 2 for evening hunt.

We're hunting around Maydelle and I've seen small groups of bucks the last few days.
Sat am we had does and a couple bucks in a food plot...no chasing...just eating.

I saw several fresh scrapes and a young 4 point was working his scrape line...until the kids came out with their muffler-less 4 wheelers. We took a couple of does up to Massengills in Lufkin and the bucks I saw up there were all swollen up. Someone had a nice 15 point up there being processed. My buddy rattled in a basket 8 point, fully developed but nowhere near legal. He came screaming in towards the rattling. I saw a lot of deer moving around this weekend though at all times of day. I do not know that the rut is on full swing yet as I saw two bucks together on a logging road Friday night while out looking for pigs, but I would bet that by next weekend it will be in full swing. I know I will be out there again.
