She rattled this buck in yesterday afternoon, but she forgot to put a round in the chamber, and he slipped off. So, she just rattled him in again this morning and shot him. He's a main frame 9 with the coolest split brow tines. Not bad for Coke County. We just dropped him off with the taxidermist for a shoulder mount.

Nice buck! Tell us 'bout the rifle! It's a Remington 798 in .243. The only Mauser action they ever put their name on, that I'm aware of. Zastava of Serbia made it, and they imported it. I bought that for her several years ago, and I intend to buy her a Browning Micro Midas so I can have that 798 back. I love that gun. It's by far the least expensive rifle that I own, but I haven't quite convinced myself that it's in any way inferior to the rest.

Cool congrats Dude you are going to have to buy 7 deep freezes this year We picked up the first 5 deer. I have a monster deep freeze that is now about 80% full. When we pick up this deer, it's done. I have a smaller deep freeze that will be plugged in after that. After that, the freezer on the beer fridge will be put into commission. I think I can handle about 10 deer before I have to buy another. That's borderline. We might get through a full year on that much meat. It's a good thing the state limits my wife to 5 deer, or I wouldn't ever have time to shoot my own. I'd spend it all gutting hers.
