I have a Remington 700 6mm that's always been a light out shooter. About a year ago I got ahold of some bad ammo and one of them blew up when I shot it. The brass cracked and the primer completely desigrenated when it went off. Blew some powder in my eyes but no real harm. Now for some weird reason the first 2 shot out of it will group very well. But after that it sprays them around like a child with a water hose.

Went to the range yesterday and my first 2 shots were 1 inch low and 1 inch left. Next 3 shots were all touching but they we 6in high and 3 inches left. Set the gun down for about 30 minutes and then the next shot was low and right. Had the gun in a lead sled this whole time so there is no way it was me. The rangemaster even shot it and couldn't get it to do anything.

Scope is tight and this is the 2nd scope I've tried on the gun with the same results. First time I mounted it and 2nd time swfa mounted it. Any thoughts?

Have you had a gunsmith look it over?

Since it started acting up after the bad ammo blow up I bet you have a headspace problem or you have brass/primer bits jammed in the throat area or chamber.

texas I am allergic to stupidity. You can't fix Stupid, but you can occasionally head it off before it hurts someone.

I bet he is on the right track^ Also sounds like it could be a headspace or bedding issue.

I had the same thing happen with my 7 mag. It turned out to be head space and was relatively inexpensive to fix

I had a 7 mm Rem Mag that started doing that and no one in SA could figure it out. I finally got P O 'd and took it apart. I had a base screw about 1/2 turn loose and when the rifle heated up it tightened up and grouped. It costs me a couple of good So Texas Bucks!

Check your guard screws also. Could have loosened one a bit or sheared one.
