I'm pretty sure the reason the guy said that he "hopes dad has lots of money" is because the only way to top that trophy is to pay lots of $$$.
That doesn't mean that this deer was shot on a high fence.

That doesn't mean that this deer was shot on a high fence. If he meant to say that, he could have just said, I hope that dad has deep pockets.

Maybe I'm just old and cranky, but if kids want to come with me and stay awake, then they're part of the hunt. If I have to wake them up off the floor and show them what to shoot, then they're just there to kill something (or more likely, to watch me shoot it). Its not like the girl was 4 and was gonna fall asleep in their baby chair.

Really neat story and am happy for her. They are the future of hunting. Make it fun for them! And with a 30-30 now doubt. I heard that caliber does not work anymore.

Congrats to the young lady for a buck of a lifetime!!
I hope to one day be able to have the same experience with my daughter in the stand with me. And if she wants to sleep then that would be ok with me. I remember when I was that age I would get in the stand and try so hard to stay up with my dad and watch but it never failed, I always ended up dreaming up deer.
