So I traded for an awesome rifle last week. It's a tricked out DPMS LR308. I thought it was the coolest rifle ever until my trip to tacpro today. Every single shot fired refused to cycle. I had to reach up and charge the weapon by hand. It also misfired on several rounds of ammo. The ammo isn't the best, but it's not crap either. What do you suggest I try?

check your gas port or see if your gas block is the switch block style where you can turn it off.

I am assuming that you cleaned and oiled the BCG but for now, it seems like you have an expensive bolt action rifle. When you cycle/charge your bolt, is it hard? Check your buffer tube and spring. You gas tube maybe blocked. On the misfire, you may want to remove the firing pin from the BCG and inspect it.

I have seen crappy ammo not cycle in good, quality AR-10's, that feed everything else. Try different ammo. If that doesn't work, then make sure your gas block is lined up properly to the gas port. I had this issue with a 223, and couldn't get it to cycle with the gas block not lined up properly. And I'd put a call into the seller to find out what he did with it, and what ammo they were running, and if they had this issue. And try a different brand of magazines. If you are shooting a P-mag, definitely change out the mag. They are the worst for reliably and consistency.

refused to eject? Refused to chamber the next round?

What ammo? What magazine?

Take a good look at your BCG, make sure the gas key is on there properly and likes up with the gas tube. Take off the hanguards and look at the gas tube.

I got it solved. When I first looked at the gas block, I didn't see a way to adjust the gas block. I contacted the guy who built the rifle and he assured me that I was an idiot and just didn't understand the gas block that he had installed. He was correct and he walked me through how to adjust it. No problem with the rifle, just user error.
