call the game warden, if he isnt on their radar already he probably will be now.
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Not enough evidence to even prove that he poached it. I mean, he took the time to tag the deer and pose for a picture even.

Ok I've had this deer on camera for two months it's a very distinct buck. The property I had him on is 10 small acres of private land surrounded by city property. Poaching is terrible in the area. That being said there is a guy showing pictures of the deer I fed around town saying he was killed 15 miles south of where I have him on game camera. The guy knows he has been caught all he could say when confronted is I'll be damned. Should we turn him in? What do y'all think? Turn his [censored] in!! Every hunter knows that Whitetail Deer do not roam 15 miles....

Yeah your not going to get anything done by turning him in... a buck can travel 15 miles in a day during the rut. now if you can find that spot he took the picture at you may be working with something

Not enough evidence to even prove that he poached it. I mean, he took the time to tag the deer and pose for a picture even. so just let it go? call the game warden, give them your pics and let them talk to him about it, he might even admit to poaching it. he will damn sure get away with it if you dont report it.

Not unusual for a deer to travel 15 miles. Especially a big buck like that. Not common at all, but not unheard of. Maybe it wasnt really 15 miles away. Stories tend to get mixed up.

15 miles is and would be very, very rare for a WT buck to travel. I'm not saying it is impossible, but in my experience hunting big country, the farthest I have seen a WT buck travel during the rut is about 5-6 miles that ran along a big draw. I would just turn your pics and stories over to the GW and let him deal with it. GW's have a knack for getting to the bottom of things and I suspect if there is any evidence supporting poaching a good GW will find it.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

I remember they put a collar on a buck not to long ago out of boggy and it traveled down river 22 miles during rut and returned back to his exact home range after February... crazy

10 acres surrounded by city property?
The deer probably was poached near your land but it's going to be hard to prove unless you had a tracking collar on the buck.
Deer move, so just having the proof you have won't hold up in any court.
Isn't much you can control on just 10 acres!

you guys would be amazed at what a (suspected) criminal will tell you when questioned. if he really reacted the way you say he did when you talked to him, give them your pics and let the warden talk to him.

If he shot it legally, he'll easily be able to show the warden where the background of that picture is.
There's at least enough evidence for the warden to look into it. I'd definitely ask him to do at least that.

And I don't think it's terribly rude or ridiculous to have the guy give some shred of evidence that he took it legally. That's a very unique buck and his story is suspect at best.

Unless he admits he poached this will go nowhere.

Not sure I agree with you. Game wardens can be extremely thorough and unrelenting if they believe something occurred that shouldn't have.

Just because you have pics of a deer on your game cam does not mean he is limited to your 10 acres. And even if he killed it on your property I don't see any proof. A call to the GW won't hurt but don't think he will be able to do much.

Best reply I've seen is the Game Warden asking him to take him to the photo location if he has the authority to do that. Of course he could have shot it on public land and hauled it to a legal location for a staged photo op.
I'd turn it over to the GW and let him make what he can of it. If the guy is lying, I'd think he'd sweat it out if you sent the GW his way for a little chat. At least the warden would be onto his act.

It's no secret that if you go into cleburne drive down to the sewer plant there is always really good bucks standing in that field. People do poach them there. This deer has been spotted in that field many times.
