The rattlesnake in Sniper's photo is a massasuaga. Usually less than 2' long so they are sometimes hard to see. Where did you kill it?

I don't care if it's poisonous or not, that thing looks vicious!

I don't always shoot deer, but when I do, I prefer B&C's.

I don't think they hibernate in this state.... maybe up on the Canadian.... had a dog struck in the tongue on Jan 1, 1974.... at Killeen, can't forget it. They may go in for a while...but on a warm sunny day (60 degrees plus)they come out and sun... Someone on here will know more about this than me. My experience.

Back around Jan 1987, I was rabbit hunting with my uncle down on the bayou. One of my pups found a snake sunning itself in a sunbeam. The morning had been cold too. So southern snakes probably don't hibernate cause it usaully warms up pretty good later in the day.

I have been Quail hunting in Gail TX and they would be so cold coiled up you could take your Shotgun and flip them over like a pancake..
