I had zero luck during bow season in Wichita County, moved to our gun lease on opening day. Spent the entire day in the blind seeing only does. We had a few nice shooter 8s on cam and one 10 point. We hunted Sunday evening seeing just small bucks. Monday evening was nice and overcast, about 45 minutes before dark I had a small 7 milling around and then the 10 came out running towards him. I got my gun up; he jumped a small ditch and made a line to the 7. I let a 7mm go at him but missed!! It was about 120 yard shot, and only the second deer I ever missed (missed a spike in MS a few years back). He was gone and I was unable to get another shot off. My dad on another stand shot at one of the larger 8 points and missed also. We walked all around looking for blood but saw none... Went back Tuesday evening, nice overcast day. Was not in my blind 30 minutes and I saw the largest 8 on cam come running towards a tree feeder we had. I had to open a window (came from behind), he took a nibble or two and I as I got my gun up he leaped into some small trees. I could see pieces of him through the trees but not enough for a good shot. I sat watching him, he tensed up once, and then took off. I let it go on his second or third jump! I was uncertain if I hit him since he was on such a run, but I went down and saw blood and he was about 30 yards away! This was my biggest deer to date! My brother shot a smaller 8 about 30 minutes later. My dad did not see anything but has vowed to get the 10 point! We will see!!

Where bouts do you hunt in clay county? I have had some nice 8's on camer a and had a new 11 pt come in last week Friday, but sat Saturday and didn't see a thing...
