On a serious note, shooting big hogs in the ear, (yes in the ear), when they're broadside stops them in their tracks!

If you make the shot the arm pit hole will have him down pretty quick. Off by a couple inches and he's probably a lost pig that dies somewhere you won't find him. The ear hole shot is much worse. Be dead on and yes, lights out. Miss by an inch or two and you have a wounded pig that may or may not die. The wound of which could be superficial, if the broadhead is deflected by the skull, or it could be one that would damage the jaw preventing the pig from eating causing a slow, agonizing death. Maybe you get lucky on a slightly off shot and cut the jugular but maybe you don't and just cut the esophagus. Too me the ear shot is a great rifle shot because the damage a rifle round does is a lot different than a broadhead. With an arrow I've never seen it turn out as well as the shooter expected.

Regardless of how you put him down be sure to post the pics if you find him. He's a brute to be sure.

I have shot 8 hogs since deer season started this year. The trick is to hit low and tight to the armpit. You almost can't hit them low enough in my opinion.

buddy shot a big hog last year (as big or bigger than this one) and he drilled him low in the armpit with a rage.

That should do it. I shoot heavy carbon arrows and wasp jackhammers and hit them quartering away low in the chest and have never had a problem. Good luck!

I agree with putting it in his armpit, and their vitals are low in the chest cavity, right against the sternum. That is the place to aim, like mentioned above.

You won't get nearly as much penetration with a mechanical as you will with a fixed blade. With big pigs, fast and light arrows won't do very well either. When they are that big, their fat layer is really thick, and it is an energy absorbing wonder of nature.

quarter away shots or steep down angle... he will smell you if the wind is wrong... old boar are smart when they are traveling alone...

true but there armpit skin is still very thin. you get into the shoulder though and your right, that skin is insanely thick.

Here is a behind the shoulder pig that only went about 50 yards. Took both lungs out with the below 2 blade broadhead. I wouldn't shoot one in the ear as too many things can go wrong.
