The reason I ask is b/c my boss is letting me hunt on his place this weekend and he told me to shoot coyotes if I see them. Well, this puts me in a weird situation since I don't shoot anything that I don't eat. So, I was wondering if they can be ate.

I guess you can eat anything, but I am out on dog!! You could always just cook it orange chicken style and pretend.

Try Chupa, you don't have to worry about getting any hair on the meat.

Well, this puts me in a weird situation since I don't shoot anything that I don't eat. So, I was wondering if they can be ate. I'm all about "don't kill it it you're not going to eat it" and I certainly respect your perspective on that, but I think you've taken it a bit too far with this. You don't eat spiders and ants and wasps you kill around your house do you? Do you eat mice or rats you catch in traps? Although I don't think you should be scared(because of parasites or bacteria, etc) to eat a coyote, I think it would be unintelligent to eat a coyote. Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you chew, I mean do.

There all kinds of recipes on the internet, if you are hungry enough you will be able to eat almost anything, coyotes included.

In your situation I would let them “get away”.

COYOTE STEW 1 doz. coyotes, lg. & wily in nature 25 gal. Acme instant coyote broth 50 lb. carrots, diced 50 lb. potatoes, diced Salt & pepper to taste Simmer coyote in broth until tender. This takes about 1 week. Season to taste. Add vegetables in last hour of cooking. Serves 250 people. If unexpected guests arrive. 1 rabbit may be added, but do this only in an emergency, as most people do not like to find a hare in their stew.

Reminds me of a "bobcat" thread but I can't remember if it was the TFF or THF but funny just the same!
If he has a coyote problem just think of it as not feeding the deer to the coyotys...

heck yeah you can eat it!the Best way is to season it and wrap it in foil for a few days covered in ice....then get your coals ready and you want to keep the temp between 180-200 pull that yote outta the foil and add onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, apples and some garlic to the cavity then wrap him up in banana leaves re-wrap with foil and lay him down in the pit let him sit and flip every couple of hours....cooking time depends on the size of your yote. Good Luck!!!

You can cook and eat anything you want to. I would not want to eat with you if you were serving coyote though.

I have known several men that survived the Bataan Death March, they lived and survived in the Japanese prison camp. They survived off of eating rats and mice. The things you will do or won't do will never be known to you unless you have personally experienced the situation that requires your will to be tested.

No doubt, but circumstances seem to be a bit different here. The OP is in a moral dilemma, not a battle for his life.
