I didn't take a coat this morning so I was cold and got to thinking about the rest of the season. What heaters are you using? Where'd you get it? How much? Suggest it?

small dearborn heater, take it to the gas company and have them put a propane orifice in it, regular size propane bottle will last all season, small bottles for the portable grills will last a day or two

go to academy and get the coleman blackcat heater. its abot 45.00 or so and you screw in one of those small propane bottles. it had adjustable legs that fold into itself so it stores easily. we have used ours for about 6 years and had no complaints. its a very economical and easy way to do it. and fyi, usually 2 of those small bottles last all season... and thats if its really cold or we are up there a lot

I just use one of those gel filled cans like they use to keep buffet food hot. It doesn't completely warm a 4x4 blind but it does take the nip out of the air enough. They are small and easy to tote in the pack.

Kind of like this one

yeah the blackcat heaters are totally safe. our blind is a 6x4 and when its cold obviously the windows are closed. they are safe because they are catalytic.. i.e. no flame. we did a lot of research on them before we put it in. i have been in other people's blinds and think this is the best. plus its whisper quiet, what sound it does make helps muffle you moving around when you readjust your seating. i promise you cant go wrong with it. as far as the others that have a n open flame, there is always the worry that something could accidentally go wrong, whether it be wind blowing the flame out or whatever.

Mine is safe as well I use it in a 5X5X7 box and have to take my coat off. It makes it like sitting at home.

I use My Buddy by Mr. Heater. It uses the disposible propane bottles. It is an indoor-outdoor heater. Question is, what is the difference in propane heaters? What makes one propane heater and In/out, while another is for outdoor only? They both burn propane. If one is bad for indoors, wouldn't they all be? Thanks for any insight. Larry

yeah like they said earlier, some of the ones with open flames are only outdoors due to the carbon monoxide. thats why i dont use a deerborn or anything else. the mr buddy would be my second choice only because of its size, the coleman is much more compact and does the same area. you cant really go wrong with either

DO YOU THINK DEER CAN SMELL THE BURNING PROPAIN? I HAVE HUNTED FOR YEARS, AND NEVER USED A HEATER, BUT MY BOYS TEND TO GET COLD AND RESTLESS. I WAS THINKING ABOUT USING ONE THIS YEAR BUT DIDN'T WANT TO RISK GETTING BUSTED!!!

one tip about it though and its obvious.. even though there isnt a flame the guard gets hot, i would want them to accidentally get burned... its just about being aware

If your lookin for a cheap home made heater my grand dad taught me a cool little trick. Take a coffee can put a roll of toilet paper in it and then pour rubbing alcohol on it. The alcohol mostly burns and the toilet paper will last an whole season. Pretty nify
