I started out positive that I wanted a Kahr PM-9. Then I thought I might want the Shield. Now I'm starting to think about the Sig. This would be an EDC.
Sig: Built like a tank. Steel. Very refined. Great trigger. Not sure I like the hammer. Almost too small. 700 bucks
Kahr: Well build, moderately refined. Simple, accurate as heck. Perfect size. Triggers a bit long, but it's very nice. 700 bucks
Shield: A tiny over the Khar. More ammo. I hear the trigger is junk, but don't know myself. Maybe not as refined. 450 bucks

I would go with the lightest and slimmest for a carry weapon.

If your open to suggestions I carry Keltec PF9. I shoot it all the time and have never had a problem. Plus you could buy one for you and your wife (or girlfriend). for probaly less than youll spend on the other ones.

I know it's not the PM-9, but I just got a Kahr CW-9. I didn't have the money to drop on a Sig or one of those new springfield EMP (which I hear are pretty great) or I would have probably gone with one of those. That being said, I really enjoy this gun. I've only put about 300 rounds through it but its been flawless so far. I personally prefer a SA trigger (all the other pistols that I own are at least DA/SA), but the DAO trigger on the Kahr is very smooth. It did take some getting use to, but once I did the gun was great. Very smooth trigger, recoil isnt bad at all, and the gun is suprisingly accurate. I do not have a CHL yet so I cannot really weight in on the hammer (Im assuming you dont like the hammer for CC reasons). Hope this helps you any. Good luck and let us see what you get!

Just FYI you can get PM9's much cheaper than $700, I got mine used in great shape for $500.

The 938 is a solid little pistol. Mine has eaten every ammo I've tried and never had a failure. I run my pistols with that grease that ships with the Sigs, as opposed to slopping with oil.
However, I am not as consistent with the 938 as I am with my wife's 238, my 1911UC, or a Glock 26. I don't know why.

I love my PM9. It is my go to hardware when i cannot carry my .45. It is small enough to ride in the pocket of my jersey when i am out on the road bike. It will fit inside the belt with no problem and the Kangaroo Carry shoulder rig works perfectly under any kind of a shirt. It is very nice having the same trigger for every pull and the weapon just works for me, every time.

I qualified for my CHL with a borrowed Kahr PM-9, and loved it. I ended up with the PM-40, though.

I think I'll stick with the Kahr. I've been waiting to score a used one. The seem to sell at a decent price, used. I shot the 40, and it kept trying to squeeze out of my hand. I'm sure a tallon grip would fix that. I think I'm gonna sell/trade my Glock 27, for a 26.Save money, and use one caliber.

I went with the CW9 a few years ago but am about ready to move to the PM9 I had to find a single stack 9 that I could keep in my pocket and the CW9 is about as small as I want to shoot but can still get in and out of my front pocket but if I knew how much I would like the kahr I would have gotten the PM model and had the poly barrel with night sights but I can fix that soon

sojo???
I went through this dilemma last year. I have fat fingers and when pulling the trigger on the CM/PM9, my finger got pinched about 2/3 way back. There is a narrow spot where trigger and guard are real close. The P380 Kahr is better and I did get one. I also ended up with a Shield in 9mm. Carries well in my OWB holster. There are aftermarket options for a lighter/smoother trigger on the Shield. Shooting/dry firing helps with break-in. Good lube works also.
Good luck on your search.

I own or have owned all three. I sold the Kahr due to constant plastic shaving on the rail. I didn't feel comfortable with the build quality. It felt cheap compared to the Sig. The Sig is well built and accurate. the best bang for the buck is the Shield.

If you get the Kahr get the P not the C. FWIW, I trade my Kahr CM9 (jammed) for the shield and I love it. The sig is nice but but finicky on ammo.

Another vote for Shield here. Trigger is getting better, and I'm looking at some of the aftermarket trigger options.
I've been carrying OWB in a kydex holster for four months now, and the Shield carries very well...nice and thin, high ride, and close to the body. I can conceal it easily under a t-shirt.
I received this week a War Pig holster from RGrizzle that I've yet to try outside the house. This particular leather holster has both belt slots in the holster body as well as removable IWB belt loops, so I'm hoping to use it for double duty, although IWB may be its principal use.

Mine is about 6 months old and has no problem with anything I feed it. However I did hear of some ammo problems on some early builds

txJD- my bad, I meant the P238- I was told that sig recommended only heavier loads or it wouldn't cycle properly.

I have the CW-40 and I wouldn't take for it. Great shooting gun that packs a punch. Go with the Kahr
