I'll be at training for 3 months south of Austin.

We have weekends off, this starts in January.

Any hunting conventions, exotic sales or anything of that sort I need to go to?

What about food, I think the traing is in Budha or someplace near there. Any real outstanding restaunts?

Austin is a great food place-
If you can round up some buddies, Salt lick is awesome for some BBQ. If you are down to drive a little bit head down to Lockhart for some traditional style south TX BBQ.

Salty Sow is kind of hipster but very good.
For decent seafood Eddie V's is pretty good too.
You also have to hit up some of the food trucks, they are absolutely awesome and cheap.

There are some pretty neat bars with lots of great local and imported bands.

If you're in Buda, theres a huge Cabelas there you can kill time at. Lots of chain type restaurants around Cabelas. Tons of good eats in Austin. You won't lose weight here, thats for sure.

Just don't let them brain wash you in Austin. You are not that far from RAZ. Auction every 3rd weekend of the month. I am a little over 2 hours SW of Austin if you get bored give me a call and I will show you around here. Donald

There is more stuff and place to eat in Austin then can be written in a post. There is more live music in Austin than in Nasville. It is hard not finding something to do. When you get here give me a shout and I can hook you up with some hunting...

Watch out for the libs, they are thick there. Nice town and surrounding hill country is all nice

Take a day off and head out west to Mason.....my favorite town in the Hill Country.

I normally do some drinking to mellow myself while putting up with the hippies Austin is notorious for!!!

But there is, like has been said, a ton if places with good eats

Depending on when in January you could run up to Dallas for the SCI show. There is one in Houston as well but it's not close to the size of the one in Dallas. I think the dates are 1/9 - 1/12 next year.

Other than that hit as many Hill Country towns that you can. The Hill Country is one of my favorite places, especially when the bluebonnets are blooming.

You could always go people watching- last time I was there I went for a run downtown one morning and I saw all kind of interesting things from homeless people(at least I think they were)doing some "dirty deeds" to a man on a bicycle wearing nothing but duck tape strategically placed on some delicate areas.

I live in Buda, go to cabelas.

If you want good mexican food, there is a place called Garcia's in downtown buda.

As far as exotic shows and all that, stick around cabelas.

Just don't give any animals a dirt nap. J/K

Lots of stuff to do. Make a roadtrip through the hill country.

Boerne, Bandera, and Fredericksburg are neat towns.

Previously when I was in Waco for 3 months 18 of us had to split 3 suburbans so it was a pain do see anything as they were all 20 and just wanted to go drinking. Not that I have anything against it, I just figured it was more interesting to find other things to do.

Texas Chili Parlor is one of my favorites and you can go see the capital buildings while your there. Don't overlook the food trucks, they are not for everybody but I love em.

Come hunt ducks south of Austin with me in Blanco.

come see my band play? we play all over Austin/Cedar Park. don't have a place i can bring guests to hunt but if you want to play golf at Twin Creeks out in Cedar Park i'm your Hucklberry there.

Hit Franklins BBQ every chance you get....Also go to Dallas for the Dallas safari convention in Jan.

Go to Houston, San Antonio as well for weekend trips....lots to do!
