Hi!
I live in Michigan and am an avid waterfowler, small game hunter and collector. I'm interested in a guided hunt for the
Chachalacha so that I can bring one of two back home for taxidermy. Of course, I'm willing to pay for this opportunity. As you might know, there are four counties in southern Texas where it is legal to hunt them. The season opens next month and runs into February. Any help that anyone could provide me would be much appreciated.
Greg

Haven't seen anyone selling hunts for them, but I have seen them running around back home. If you don't find anyone doing a hunt you might check into public lands down there.

Can I hunt the ones that you've seen "running around back home"? I'll be so happy if I can just shoot one! I just want one to mount. I appreciate the suggestion of public land hunts but in my research, I've been told by some to not waste your time. I've been further told that they are mostly on private land. In fact, if you look on YouTube, you can see people walking around their yards feeding them like chickens. Any help would be much appreciated and I'm more than willing to pay! Thanks! Greg

We have them in our backyard down here....however some of the neighbors might not like a shotgun coming out! haha I am calling around to some of the farmers on the water to see if they have seen any lately. I will let you know but alot that ive talked to recently have not.

Adam,
Thanks very much! Remember that I only want one! And I'm willing to pay for the opportunity. I saw one and heard one once when I was duck hunting in Mexico and just never got a shot at it. As you probably know they get in some really thick brush. You can hear them but they're hard to see. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks again!
Greg

I'm heading down to that part of the world Thanksgiving week to hunt, I'll ask if anyone hunts them and where to go. PM me around the 26th when I head down there, as a reminder.

Would greatly appreciate photos displaying your collection. Good luck on your Chachalacha hunt.
