Where is the best place to get an current overhead picture of a place. Similar to google earth, but current and better.

Not sure of your locatin but the local city or county may have a GIS department that may be able t produce what they call a "grafic".

If you know anyone in an oil company they have some ot the latest and greatest arials

I think Google has the latest. The thing to understand is that they don't "fly-by" on necessarily a regular basis. As mentioned, the oil industry may have updated aerials for a specific site/region, but the likelihood that it's the area you want is slim.

Looks like google map updated the map on my place in Brown county every two years. Notice the hunters trailer is moved to new location and fishing dock is showing up now. Just built the dock last winter

You can Google aerial photo and find a few companies that do it but its not cheap. They fly over and take a pic of the area you want.
