Take a look at the Winchester brand ammo box. On the 223 you wil find a golper and a rabbit, and the words thin skinned game. Look at the same box in the 270 box and you will find a picture of a deer. I think they are giving you a hint

Here is the best 223 for deer and it even has a picture of a deer on the side so I guess that solves that problem.

Like this?

I've used the 64 grain Winchesters on coyotes and it puts a hurtin on um, and I bet they would work pretty good on deer with proper shot placement and range of course!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Shot my deer this year with a .223 ar-15 and it worked just fine. I used a 55 gr Varmint Nightmare from Midsouth with 23 grains of H-322. Put a one inch hole in his rib cage and was devistating on the vitals. Don't let people talk trash to you. Usually the ones with poor marksmanship use the biggest fastest round possible. "Hint" His name is 7Mag. Most of the deer we kill aren't big 250lb bruisers, they work just fine.
