Just bought a Weatherby SA 08. Been many yrs since I've owned a shotgun but I remember having this same problem last time around...
Brand new and went to shoot. Gun wont properly eject rounds. I believe last time it was due to some gummy preservative lubricant they use. Regardless last time it didnt fix the problem and the gas ports needed to be reworked.
Is it typically necessary to clean the gun through and through to cycle/eject rounds properly?

I guess I should add that I am shooting Estate Hvy Game Load. 1165fps. Its not what I would shoot but the range I am at has me shooting birds right in front of power lines and apparently they would rather you shoot garbage at the lines than a decent shot. How they get away with the power-lines being 30yds directly in front of the firing line is beyond me

I would clean and lube the gun good. Check the O-Rings.
Some semi Autos you have to shoot in a little. Try some Hi-Brass 7 1/2 or 8s.

You definitely need to clean and lube the gun before firing. Get the packing grease out of it and replace with a lubricating oil. That shotgun may take a few boxes being run through it to be broken in too. The Estate heavy game loads are fine. At 1165 fps, I am assuming 20 gauge?

So you are not able to get the follower to move forward at all? Sounds like the spring is bound up, possibly bound with the magazine plug keeping you from being able to load the shells. Take the cap off the magazine and remove the plug. If that frees it up, you can re-install the plug and try again.

I took the plug out and left it out and tried to slide the follower forward it still wouldn't slide put the plug back in and still wouldn't slide. Any other ideas?

I would take a dowel rod, thicker than the one used as the plug, place it on the follower, and give the other end a good tap to see if I could free the follower. Perhaps there is a burr or some other minor defect that is keeping the follower lodged in place.

if you have trouble with a shotgun extracting I would take a chamber brush and wrap it with some steel wool put it on a drill oil the brush and take it for a spin this will smooth out the chamber and has solved my problem in the past

Well I took the gun out today and tried something that I thought might work. I loaded a shell into the extractor port and fired it, it broke what ever was holder the follower still loose.

If it happens again, you will need to take it apart and find whatever is keeping the follower from moving, or send it back if under warranty.

We bought one of those in a 20 GA for my wife last year. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a total POS. Wound up returning it in exchange for a Benelli Ultralight. Cost me a bunch more but the Benelli was well worth it. If you can't get yours to work, maybe see if there is any other recourse. It seemed like a decent shotgun but we literally had a malfunction on every round with the one we got.
