Anyone tried it? Had pretty good luck (0.6" 100 yard groups) using the 168, so going to try the 185 and see how it does. Will be using Varget.

178 gr. is the heaviest I've shot out of a 308 Win. If you have a 1:10" twist I bet it'll shoot them fine. I'd like to see how it groups. Keep us up to date.

I know they make a Hybrid 185 target bullet that specs for a 1/11 barrel but I have yet to try them in my VSSF.
After my experience with their bullets in my 264, I'll stick to Noslers offerings for filling tags.

Yeah, yeah....but I can't get the Nosler's to group as well in my rifle (except when YOU load them for me). Still can't figure that out! Have some of the 185's ready with multiple charges and will try them out next week. If they do well I may even try the 210's just for fun. I'm a big fan of "bigger is better"!

Results are in. Shot the 185's using Varget at loads from 41-44 grains in 1/2 grain increments. Got great groups at 41 and 43.5 grains with no pressure signs at 44. Groups ranged from 0.4" to 1.5"+ (this rifle is very picky). Looks like I'll be going with the 43.5 grain load at 0.52" 5-shot group. Will also try the 210 grain bullet in the near future.

I assume your shooting a 308 win correct?
What kinda velocity are you getting with those loads?
It's hell eatin em live

Just based on ballistic charts I'm guessing around 2550. I don't have a chrono and have not shot at any longer distance with it yet. Not as concerned about velocity as accuracy.
And yes- 308 through SPS AAC.

That seems slow. What's the barrel length?
.52" is definitely a load to keep. Consistency trumps velocity every time.

I meant to say that velocity estimate is based on load data- not ballistics table. Thinking one thing and typing another.
It might be closer to 2600. I will just have to shoot at longer ranges and compare the actual ballistics to ballistics tables to figure it out. Not too terribly concerned about what it actually is as long as it maintains accuracy.
The AAC is a 20" barrel.
