Getting ready to get another calling rifle for coyotes and am been debating on these two rounds
I shoot a 22-250 now and have for some time
What is the good and bad from either
With the smaller bullets being made for the 243 are they as accurate

I've had really good luck with the 80gr ttsx in the 243.

Ttsx excels in tbe hot smaller calibers 22-250, 220swift, 243, 6mm etc. IMO

My 22-250 won't sling a TTSX worth a crud, now a 53 gr TSX it really likes.

When I was breaking in my 243 I used some hornady 58 grain Vmax bc a Rem 700 I had wouldn't shoot them at all. My Abolt put 10 consecutive shots inside a one inch square. Thought about loading some 87 grain Vmax for it but its too pretty for a varmint gun.

Stock rifle vs. Stock rifle the twist rates determine what they'll shoot.

A stock 22-250 will send a 55 gr Sierra Game King at 3780 fps. That's pretty salty to 300 yards, 400 if you're good at judging wind, 500 if you shoot too much, like I do.

A stock 243 will push a 90 gr to 100 gr bullet well north of 2850 fps. The 243 I worked up a load for was a friend's rifle. I got it to hold .3 MOA and banged the steel to 700 yards with it.

I'd go with the 243 in factory rifles. But my custom barreled, 22-250 1:8" twist, and 75 gr A-maxes is bad medicine for varmints.

I like both the 243 and 22-250. The 243 has a larger range of bullets and have some that give fantastic BC.

I shoot 62 Gr Swift Scirocco Bullets when I reload or 62 Gr Federal Fusion in my 22-250.

I shoot 95 Gr Combined Technology Ballistic Tips when I reload and have had great success with it, I have also reloaded some Berger Bullets with good success. My Ruger will shoot just about anything it is not picky, my H&R likes the Winchester 95 Gr Ballistic Tips which is the Combined Tech bullets, and my TC like Federal Fusion 95 Gr or Winchester Power Point 100gr.

As far as results on coyotes either kill them out further than I can shoot.

Bigger game you are better served with a 243 but lots of stuff has been killed in Texas with the 22-250. Now if you ever hunt in other states the 243 is the minimum in most states.

I've run full circle with varmint rifles and I'm back to the 243. The 1-12 barrel on my Styer loves the little fast movers.

I've got multiple 22 cals, and 6mm/243 variants. My last 22-250 was rebarreled into a 6mm. That said, I just like the 22-250. It's just a fun little round. Now that I've had mine rebarreled, I find myself wanting another one. Next time around though, I want a faster twist. The stock 1:14 on most rifles just doesn't do it justice. It can still perform very well, with the 1:14 and 52's (or similar) and that makes it ideal for varmints, but I'd like to have the advantage of shrinking the groups at longer distances by running bullets with better BC's. Not sure if that was what you were looking to hear, but thought I'd give some feedback.

It would be a hard choice for me between a fast twist 22-250 and a 243. Being that the 22-250 would cost me more I would likely go the 243 rout. If its between a standard twist 22-250 and 243 then ill take the 243 every time.
