I am picking up a fiberglass 4x6 on a 5 foot tower this weekend. Do you think driving t-posts to each leg and stringing it to the leg will be enough to keep it anchord?

No. I have have them blown over tied down like that with high winds or a strong cold front with a lot of wind. I would get a trailer house anchor and screw it into the ground in the center under the blind as deep as I could get it. 3-4' then tied 9 gauge wire or some cable from each corner back right under the blind to the anchor. If you location is on high ground or in the open then tie it down very well. If it is in very tall trees and surrounded then you might get by with T-posts driven in the ground 3' or so deep. If the ground is very rocky then use the search feature on here to find old threads about anchoring blinds in rocky ground.

X2 on what ranchman said, the trailer anchors are the way to go with the braided wire. In a really windy location we have been known to do the bottom anchor as he describes - then do another one 15' out from each corner and run a guy wire to each of the frame corners.

it is on a hill top where the front (6ft side) would be facing North. Lots of mesquite to the rear of me. I was thinking about doing the t-posts. I know the property in general is rocky but have been in spots where rocks were not an issue. I was also thinking about using guy wires from each frame corner connecting to a mesquite tree. Where can I pick up one of those anchor setups?

Ive got 2 blinds on 12 foot stands in the middle of the open tied with T-post and wire. Both made it thourgh rita and Katrina just fine. I think you will be more than fine if you do a good job with the T-posts and heavy wire.

I've had t-posts bent and pulled 3-4' out of the ground on my 16' tower in the panhandle. I am always looking for better ways to anchor and I am now very interested in the mobile home anchor idea.

With a 5' stand I would think you would be fine wit just t-post.
For a little more peace of mine I would go with stxranchman suggestion

We had one tied to mesquite trees, the wind was strong enough that it broke two 6" diameter limbs to topple one of ours. In the wrong place and the right wind nothing is safe.

like Stxrancman said, anchor screw and heavy gauge wire, this works for my set-ups..

Of course, if you hunt in Comanche County, for the past three years, you could have had telephone posts for your anchors and it wouldn't matter. We've had tornados or hurricane winds hit our lease for the past three years!

Currently mine are all 4x4's, we are building a 4x8 that will be 10 foot up and we will anchor it the same way. If you do it right it will work just fine. Ive been getting by all my life on stuff others claim wont work. Those two are bought pipe stands and the bottoms are about 7 foot square. The 4x8 we are building is home build and the base is 8x10. We have built bigger blinds before.

We have built bigger blinds before. Be sure and takes lots of pics before so you can remember what the blind used to look like. Crow is tuff to swallow. Been doing this a lot longer than you and have eaten it many times. I sold blinds and was on 100's of ranches to see setups. Many blinds were bought to replace ones that turned over cause guys thought like you did. You get some rain right as a strong norther blows in and it will topple blinds guyed with only T-posts stuck in the ground 18-24". 4x8 is like a sail when it comes to wind. You will notice the difference in it on a windy day. Wide, heavy pipe bases help a lot. I have seen those laying on the ground in a pile though also.

Im using heavy gauge wire and 6 foot t-post with about 2 foot stuck out of the ground. We have a couple inches of sand over some incredibly hard kind of clay drive posts with a sledge and tie to a cross member around the bottom of stand not just wrapped around the leg a time or two.
All four legs are tied and wont budge. The new one we are building is currently just a stand, not sure how we will do it. I have some mobile home anchors... I have more faith in 4 t-post 4 foot in the ground than one of them.
Not saying there is a right or wrong way to do it. All im saying is ours are holding well. I didn't half arse it either though. Im sure you way works, but there is always more than 1 way to skin that kitty

You went to all that work driving in 4 Tpost in hard ground when I would have put in one trailer house anchor in the middle to guy it from. I would not have to worry about walking into guy wires in the dark either. Where did you go to college at again to learn to skin that kitty....

No. I have have them blown over tied down like that with high winds or a strong cold front with a lot of wind. sounds like you didn't do it right. That'll withstand 100mph+ hurricane force winds, the stout current of flowing water & the Allstate mayhem guy.

I haven't read all the post but if you'll drive t-post right beside (parrallel) to the leg and wire the two together you should be fine.
We used to have about 1 blind a year blow over until we started doing this now we haven't had one go down in 5 or 6 years.

I don't like to have to rebuild one just cause that wind that never happened in the past blew one over.
