I just acquired a new Glock 23 and when I broke it down there was very little of the red copper paste on it. Been calling around to some local gun shops so I can get some before I break it in and none of them seem to have any. Anyone know of where I can pick some up cause I was to take it out this weekend.
Iv got hogs an can show you a good time.

What in the world does Spec 308 have to do with anything your asking? What you see is a proprietary lube that comes from Glock on new guns. Some think you have to remove it, you don't. Just add a good lube on the contact points, metal to metal, and have at it. The "red copper" will disappear over time and after a through cleaning or three. Slip 2000 EWL is the best lube out there IMO.

Gotcha, I've never seen it for sale before though and didn't know it had a name.

So I should be good with the very little amount that is on it and just use my own lubricant?

Well it was a gift and my first pistol so I want to make sure I take care of it correctly.

It'll still be fine. Those things are tough. Even long after that copper stuff disappears, it only takes less than a few drops of oil to lube a gun at all the moving parts. Just my .02 but kudos for appreciating the gift. Guns are rare a gift for me. Congrats! The 23 is a sweet shooting gun

Copper grease Pretty sure you won't wear out your glock in your lifetime even if you never lube it.
