My 17 year old nephew is ate up duck hunting. He calls and texts all the time with questions.

I'd like to give him a book that could become his waerfowl hunting bible. Is there one book out there that you would endorse? Thanks

I grew up reading books by A.C.Becker Jr. on waterfowl hunting. Easy to read and solid hunting advise for beginers. "Decoying Waterfowl" is a good one. Saw a couple on Buybooks.com.

I have a pretty decent library of waterfowl books. Hands down one of my favorites that covers information on different waterfowl species across the world, behavior, migration, mating, etc etc is "The Natural History of Waterfowl" by Frank S Todd. Can't go wrong their.

Similar but more concise information in a smaller package is "Waterfowl: An Identification Guide to Ducks, Geese, and Swan of the World" by Steven Madge. It's my travel book.

x2 on the lab pup. Coolest Uncle ever!

The Outlaw Gunner. It is about the market hunters. He won't believe the pictures and stories about how many ducks those guys killed.

My buddy got me a book called "100 years of duck hunting in Texas" or something like that. Really cool, has a lot of old family photos from all regions of Texas and has some good info on the old time leases and stuff. Really just interesting to read and see how different things are these days. Lots of photos also to break up the reading.

The duck hunter's bible

It's a compendious stories. Gordon Mcguarrie, Ted Trueblood, Nash Buckingham, Robert Ruark and more. It will whet his appetite for other books.

There's a good bit of knowledge in the old an and his boy series too.

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

Hmm, in stead of a book, how about a membership in Delta or DU?

He would get their magazine monthly.

An alternative to DU or Delta would be Wildfowl. They offer a digital subscription, which should give him access to past subscriptions.

And another book idea maybe Texas Waterfowl by Chester Moore.

Great stuff guys.....thanks!

I may become worlds greatest uncle and least favorite brother in law in one move. Although I'm nearly certain I have that second one pretty well locked up.

Hey duckcomandercowboy28, what is this vast google thing you speak of? Is that part of the World Wide Web intranet dealy thingy? I don't get out of the duck blind too much...
