Bucks on my place are getting busted up already.

At least you're not seeing them dead on a highway.

May not be the rut at all. I had a buck break a G2 off already 3 weeks ago now. Could just be from fighting brush or rubbing antlers.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I watched a couple spikes sparing last weekend. Our bucks in Callahan are still grouped up.

Was bow hunting this weekend and the does couldn't stand still long enough to eat corn. Every buck on the place was on high alert and chasing anything without horns!

I was in Lometa this weekend and saw a buck running a doe hard. He was grunting louder than any deer I'd heard before. The buck I shot Saturday morning I could actually smell at 20 yards.

39-41 degrees Sunday am. I heard the bucks busting heads together and rustling through the brush yesterday morning. It was cool. They aren't tinkling antlers together anymore. Even the rabbits were chasing each other around and fighting.

The pre rut sparring and some bucks can get pretty rough with those saplings and small trees when they polish their antlers and build up those neck muscles for when the real fights start.
I've noticed a couple bucks also with broken tines on the lease and it's still several weeks away until the rut in my area. There are still some bachelor groups.

Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

They mature bucks have seperated on our lease and we're not seeing the big boys at the feeders either. Can't say the rut has started, but they are definitely on the prowl.
