If I wanted to rebarrel my Venture from 30/06 to .257 Weatherby....is the .257 a long action caliber & ball park on cost?

Any other cost I need to be aware of?

The Wby is a long action, but is also a magnum bolt face whereas your '06 is not.

Depending on the extractor it can be done. Theres a few smiths out there that will cut a Med bolt face to mag bolt face specs and install a Sako or other type extractor. This works on a Remington. If the TC uses that style extractor already then it might be even easier to make it happen.

Sell venture and buy new gun. The gun smithing will cost more than rifle did.

Depending on how involved the conversion and re-barrel is, this may not be the case. I am just talking about the labor end of it, not the cost of the new barrel.

The problem with the venture is your not going to find an aftermarket stock for it that I am aware of. You will need to find a barrel with a contour that matches the stock one pretty closely.

Thanks for the info. I'll most likely sell it and look at the Vanguard 2 but was just trying to think of all options
