Just wanted to share some pics to some friends on here. My wife and I went hiking last Wed., and then I went to go Salmon fish the Toutle river down from Mt. St. Helens in the same afternoon. Tried to get the bellowing Elk on camera but they were to far below us to get 'em on the camera phone.
Zoomed setting on phone-

Same, but at regular setting-

My wife ahead of me on the very small trail...not for the faint of heart (or folks w/vertigo or fears)-

For Guy and everyone else on the Migratory bird section...possible duck ponds, and the infamous Spirit Lake-

Yeah, you lost me back down the trail. I don't do well when it comes to hiking along razorback ridges or skinny trails. The Rio Grande gorge about killed me a few years ago. Heart attack city. looks like you have a fearless Wife. Beautiful country for sure. It's especially neat to see where rivers originate.

Nice pics! Was there back in 80 shortly after she blew her top. Was going to be able to get close, but she burped again the day before we got there and were not allowed within 20 miles.

We were there in the late 80's and it was still quite a site! Toutle lake was solid trees floating, trees were laid over like matchsticks everywhere! We hiked up to the rim in knee deep ash and didn't realize the hike up was easy - the hike down took forever and we didn't make it back until after dark! Hard to get good footing when you can't see your feet! Great pics!

She is still active. We saw puffs of smoke coming from the crater throughout the day. Pics are of the North side where she blew out. There is currently a dome/ash mound building inside the crater.
