Well I have taken pigs with the Hornady SST 130 grain with no problem but you may want to check on a 150 grain bullet.

130gr is fine. It's all about shot placement.

I agree with that shot placement is key. what I have used in my .270 with great success was the federal fusion ammo in 150gr. I once was once able to kill two hogs with one shot at about 60yrds. I shot the first right behind the shoulder, the bullet went through it and just happened to hit a second hog that had lined up perfectly behind the first one in the head, the hog had lined up just right head on facing me on the other side of the hog. The federal fusion in my opinion is an awesome round I use it for both deer and hogs, the only deer I have shot with this round was shot at about 150yrds, it dropped right in it's tracks and feel stone dead after it was shot. This round is not only deadly on game but in my rifle is very accurate.

The Fusion bullet is a good bullet, and it's accurate in a wide selection of firearms. Truth though, just about anything in a .277/6.8 will let the air out of a pig with the quickness if you put it where it needs to go. Hit it in the gut with a .50BMG and you'll have a runner on your hands. Choose anything other than FMJ(ricochets) and go hunting.

X2 on the remmy 130 gr core loct. Put in the right place it is a one shot killer. Heck the 100 gr core loct put em down with one shot.
Plus it's not too expensive and relatively easy to find.

Just get some core locks, there much cheaper, it does take nothing special to put one down.

Thanks guys. I shoot federal fusion 130gr. The reason I asked is just out of curiosity because I shot two pigs this past sunday in south texas and both of them squealed and trotted off with a small blood trail on both of them and I put the cross airs right where the neck and the shoulder meet. It was so hot and muggy I wasn't going to clean those big ol boars anyways due to their nastiness but I was just curious to others experiences. Thank you for all the replies.

I've killed them with a Remington 130 grain Corelokt. I have also killed WT, MD, Red Stag, Aoudad, Oryx and Axis with the same load and rifle.

I have used Hornady Interbond 130 grain with great success in the past. This year, I purchased a bunch of boxes of the Hornady American Whitetail which uses the 130gr interlock softpoint. I expect similar performance. IMO, any quality bullet in .270 will do the job, as long as it is accurate in your rifle.

If you draw a mental line from the eyes to the point of the shoulder, any point along that line should hit the spine and immediately anchor the hog.

Whatever 270 bullet your rifle likes will drop them. My weatherby vanguard s2 didn't shoot the 130gr fusions very well but absolutely loves the 130gr rem core lokt. Whatever you can shoot accurately will do the trick

For .270win my favorites on pigs are.....
Hornady 140gr BTSP & Nosler Accubonds
If your looking for a cheap bonded bullet that works well try the Winchester PowerMax 130gr....I have seen them perform VERY well on hogs and you can get them for $20box.

If you draw a mental line from the eyes to the point of the shoulder, any point along that line should hit the spine and immediately anchor the hog. It doesn't really have to be mental, even. Cover the eye with the horizontal bar of your crosshairs and you can see where the DRT zone is
