any experience with a 32 special (32 win special) compared to a 30-30? Need to have 1500 ft lb (2000 joule) of energy at 100 meters. Haven't been able to find any 32 info. 30-30 will make it with a shell from hornady but I found a winchester 32 special that may stay cheap because it is so uncommon.

The ballistics are identical to the .30-30. Where one is legal, the other should be equally legal, barring some byzantine legal issue.

A 20" 30-30 shooting the 160 gr FTX will make right at 1500 ft/lbs at 100 yards. Just stick with the 30-30. Finding ammo will be much easier.

Surely don't let energy levels fool you. What you don't pay now, you'll make up for in short time with 30-30.

Since you are in Germany, is this a rifle availability issue?

not so much.... I just can't see spending a bunch of money on a hobby with ongoing costs.... I did call a few local places and 32 special ammo is a 4-6 month order with 30-30 OH along with the hornandy that meets the criteria OH also... Don't even need the other rifle if I'd just get the bolt action repeater in my head...
If I don't find a decent lever action deal, I'll prolly just play with the bolt action some more til I like it.....

If your hunting stag, I would want something with a little more thump.

try the good ol' 30-06

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

already have the 30.06 and need another like I need another hole in my head... But sometimes wants gotta outweigh needs..... Made some calls to local stores for ammo.... 32 special has to be ordered from the States with a minimum order of 5 boxes...
If I get something, it'll be a 30-30...

nothing wrong with .32 spc,
but practicality puts it at
a reloader-only situation.
if you already have a supply
or access to 30/06, maybe an
1895 winchester or copy is in
order.
i prefer 30/30, but i also load
for all my centerfire metallic
ammo.

.32 Special was developed for the blackpowder shooter. The twist lent to poor barrel life in the Winchesters.
