DallasShootingSuplies Tell your buddy, hope he makes it to the OU/TX game! even as a sooner I love seeing Texas represented by the troops... However, if he would please leave the machine gun at home for the game, I'd appreciated it....

This is a picture of my son, LCpl. Nicholas Hughes, and his Mom & I before he deployed to Iraq Feb 2008. As you can tell in the picture, my wife is having a hard time seeing him leave. He will be heading to Afghanistan in less than a month.

Well, Our Nephew Spec. Larry Michael Ertel will graduate from WLC at Ft Benning with a 95.? grade. He made the Commandants List and was First in the PT test so he will also be awarded The Army Physical Fitness Test Award (Iron Warrior). He may end up in another school next week since he did so well in the school. IDR what this next class is. He is on fast track for E-5. Still set for Chinook mechanical training next May in Virginia.

UPDATE:
The boy graduates bootcamp next Friday (11/15). We will be leaving for Chicago on the 14th to see it. This time, I get to see what it looks like, because when you are in the graduation, you don't get to see anything.
He is Navy EOD, so he has BUDS prep for 3 more weeks in Great Lakes, and then heads to Florida for something like 38 weeks.
We are very proud and he is so ready to get out of bootcamp, so should be a good visit.
The Boy (Daxxon) at MEPS after signing up in the Delayed Entry Program. Ships out next June, will be US Navy, EM (if he doesn't get accepted to EOD)

For my son, there isn't to many job prospects after the Army for chasing IEDs. Plus each MOS(correct me) only has so many of each rank assigned to that MOS and if there are no positions left, you find somewhere else to go or get out. Why is everyone leaving the Engineers? I guess its still the dregs of the military. I couldn't wait to get out of the engineers too even though I was combat heavy.
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

Thought I would drop a few from my travels to exotic locales...ok not so exotic lol. Out near VSP Justice in Afghanistan  In Sarobi shooting the Knights Armament SAS 110  Local Brass collectors and IED component collectors...  A line of abandoned Russian BMPs out near Sarobi.
