luckily my family land hasnt been found by pigs yet, was just curious how many guys out there still dont have to deal with pigs on their places either? what county is it?

and for the HF guys, have you been able to completely eradicate them and keep them away?

I had quite a few on my place last spring and summer. I put up feed pens around feeders and starting setting traps for hogs. I only have a few left now after a little over a year. One big boar and a sow and some pigs that do not come around very much anymore. I caught around 40 in the last year. When I managed a 5100 acre ranch that was LF when I started it had a lot of hogs. I started trapping hogs when they were building the HF fence. It was very dry and the hogs were thick. The first month I caught 145 hogs. In 3 yrs I caught or shot over 360 hogs total. I could only find tracks after rains and in pics of 2 big boars left by the end of year 3. From the air during annual surveys the last year I saw 2 sows and about 8 pigs. I snared fencelines for about 5-6 months during the late winter and spring every year. I only caught 2 hogs in snares during the time I was there.

They come and go on our place usually with the acorn crop. Otherwise the occasional loner shows up outside the feeder fences but very few. We are in Palo Pinto and have not really had a problem with them but a distant neighbors traps them and runs dogs all the time. It is kinda disappointing in that there is not much to kill outside of hunting seasons but obviously a blessing that they aren't around as well.

We have hogs. They are a problem from time to time. I wouldn't mind fencing the feeders or at least some of them, but don't think the rest want to so status quo it is.

They found me last year bout this time. I kilt 6 at my feeder, probably had 20 or so. Pops lives 2 miles away and he caught 14 in one trap, then singles for a couple months. Then POOF, gone. Ain't had a hog since, dunno where they went, but my freezer is gettin low.

Its intersting how they come and go, seems like once u kill/trap a few they will relocate for a few months then show back up. Like they have a big circuit they run.

Its kinda like NASCAR at a super speedway with pigs.. they keep making big ole laps at top speed, sometimes they pass you by... but when they all decide to come in and pit all at once, that's where the problems begin

We had pretty much eliminated the hogs from our property by fencing off all the feeders starting a few years back, but my neighbor put up 6 feeders up with no pens last season and they came back with a vengeance. Been killing them at every chance ever since. That has really made me believe in the pens both to keep them off the feeders and to push them to other properties where the grub is easier to get.

We have them in Erath, but over in Somervell, at least where I hunt we haven't had any. I don't want them over there. Back at the home place however, it gives us something to shoot at year round. up
