Hays and Caldwell counties in Central Texas are offering a $5 bounty for each member of the non-native invasive species bagged by hunters, up $2 from last year, the Austin American-Statesman reported in its Saturday edition. Bastrop County is offering a $5 bounty for the first time. http://fishgame.com/news/?p=21526

Wow.. Does anyone actually benefit from this? Does not seem like much of an incentive.

Two pig tails will buy a bag of corn so you can feed more pigs....

Wow.. Does anyone actually benefit from this? Does not seem like much of an incentive. There was an article in the Austin paper a couple days ago about this. It interviewed the guy that turned in the most tails last year in Hayes County. I think it was 82 tails. There's a guy in Caldwell County that is planning to trap on a coworkers land that I'm told got about that many last year as well. From the anecdotal info I hear, few hunters bother with the bounty - it's the people trapping them to sell to the hog buyers that are collecting.
