I tried my best to not go hunt this weekend since I'll be gone most of the month but with the weather and the yard work done I couldn't help it. Got to the food plot at 5 and big nasty came out at 6:30. He wouldnt stay still but finally I got a quartering away at 24 yards and got most of an arrow in him. Waited till a little before dark got on the blood and went about fifty yards when I heard him grunt and kinda gargle, I knew he was hurt bad but at the angle and him still gargling I figured I only got one lung. I had no pistol, one arrow, and a small pen light so I decided to continue this in daylight. I hunted this morning till the sun got up enough to see through the briars and got back on the blood. 100 yards from where I shot him he was burried up in his home that I assume he came from each night because I had pics of him everyday for a week at the same time. This is some nasty Jack County tangle, its briars and vines and the shadows and light play tricks on you and you can walk feet from black hogs with out seeing them.  Here is his home, the pic don't really show it like it should but he had spent a lot of time in there for awhile. The trails in and out were heavy and all the ground was packed smooth, it was neat.  And here is big nasty, the hog not me.  Ive killed countless hogs and weighed live even more, I would guess this one in the 230-250 range maybe more. I'm not really tough or even strong but I'm 6'4 190 and it was bigger than me and I couldn't move it. Had to call my brother to come help and without him it would still be laying in that burrow it built. Thanks Nate for the help. In case your wondering 15 year old Matthews FX shooting 230 fps, 10 year old Easton 2314 with glue on knocks weighing 500 grains, and Thunderheads. 16" of penetration quartering away entered at second to last rib, lodged in the bottom of spine at base of neck.
