Have hunted the past two weekends... Heard sparring this weekend, the bucks on camera Tarsal glands are getting darker, and my cousin who hunted said he saw what appeared to be a buck chasing a doe on Sunday... New to the area is anyone else getting any sign of early rut. I'm pretty sure were pretty deep into pre rut but would it be abnormal this far north for next weekend to be getting into that time of year?

I have hunted in Panola co., north of Carthage and have seen them running as early as 2nd week of November. Saw two decent bucks that day, one I had running back and forth looking for my doe bleat. Also saw a buck mid afternoon that we rolled up that was working a scent pretty hard and he could care less that he 15-20 yds from us.

One thing is for certain, the rut dates are never exact. Doesn't hurt to stay in contact with a local processor or taxidermist for info. When the rut is on, their business spikes.
