I am debating on picking up some Pintail decoys, or a Mojo type motion decoy.... Can anyone out there give me some input on what works better here in Tx? I am from Utah and it's a different type of hunting down here. I have a small spread of 6 GWT, 1 DuckButt, and 9 Mallards that I put out.. Any guidance or hints would be great,

Thanks in advance,

Get a jerk cord and hook up 3-4 deks on that some biotch. Thank me later.

Depends on the area. Public or private? I would probably go with the pintail dekes. Or something that adds motion in the water. Mojos are past their time for The most part in most cases.

Pintail deeks won't garantee you squat, I put out a half doz max. Any fool knows they don't like to decoy in like other ducks. I never have a problem pulling them in to my spread.

Then something else is wrong with your spread or you're moving or something. Yes pintails can be very weary and will circle several times in most cases but they aren't that hard to get in.

What part of "I never have a problem pulling them in to my spread." do you not understand.

My bad I guess your other statements make it sound like you did have a problem getting them in. Either way I agree with guy. Pintail decoys will help get pintails in and other ducks as well. But I will also agree with you in that it doesn't guarantee anything. But it will help imo.

Get Pintails and Gadwalls, a jerk string doesn't hurt either.

Pintails like to commit to pintails. They're pretty racist.

Yep. I can tell you my first 5 years duck hunting north texas I never shot a pintail. A friend gave me one pintail deek, and I started shooting pintails. I added 2 more pintails to my spread, I shot more pintails. I got 6 G&H pintails 2 years ago I shoot over now, and pintails love them. Wish we could shoot more than 2, all you can do is take pictures of them after that..

I am not going to lie, last season, I was half asleep in the blind and had a dozen Pinnies come right into my mallard dekes, would have been able to drop a few but some a$$hat set up to fish right across from me, and I know I don't like getting peppered, so I try not to pepper others, by the time they cleared the guy, they were on the other side of the trees.... I was a little heated.... 8 drakes in the group....
