I'll get some posted when I get around to it. I wouldn't call him a gun dog but he does his best!

mark3 wanted me to post this stupid picture, even though it is not from this season. He's in the middle and I'm to his right. My dog was in training when we were on this hunt. We had a great day - 45 birds and could have gotten more.

We didn't take any pictures, but I was down outside of Hebbronville last weekend and we were on a management hunt (deer) on a private ranch (as in privately owned and hunted) and we flushed 16 coveys on Saturday alone hunting 6 hours over 8 dogs. We were only shooting a max of 3 birds per covey so we didn't rack up incredible numbers, but we were on birds all day long. I think it depends on where in S. Texas you are because some areas didn't get much rain at all. We talk with a group that hunted the King Ranch at dinner Saturday night and they got a late start, but only got 2 coveys.

Just saw my Dad who is on his way home from 12 days in Uvalde and they still have lots of birds but the lack of rain on the ranch there has kept ground cover sparse enough that the birds were very hard to hunt. Didn't hold and can cover way more ground under all that brush than the dogs or people can. Tough hunting but lots of birds still.

This year should be real good when we get some rain. Hunting has been hard due to the dry conditions. Mostly dust. Still some good dog work.

Here's Hank (not Hank the Bobcat fighter, but Hank the Gundog) with yet another day's limit. I can't believe nobody else has any quail pics.

This is a pic of a 10 month old pup I raised and have been working. First point on wild birds.

You've probably already found them, but there's a lot of good gun dog pics in one thread in the "gun dog" forum.

Those are some good pics.

Here is my buddies brothers dog on our Thanksgiving hunt out in Turkey, TX. We got about 55 for the day in a few hours. Never seen that many birds in my whole life. I can say the dog really didn't do much. Too dry for any scent and there were so many covies it was not problem to find the birds. Man did we miss a ton.

great pics, this year's dust is hard on everyones gun dog. This pic is from last year, An IL Quail client with T-Bone & Freckels, "the Brit Bashers" in Crowel Texas. This image was
cut down for the web, but the original made two magazines. Will our scent conditions improve soon????

CuzTheyFly,
Beautiful picture. It looks like an oil painting.

Here's one from back in November...not many more pics taken this year. Have a bunch from previous years though.

I thought I would add these to the mix. They were taken over the Chirstmas Holiday. Not a big bag but a good looking group.

Littlemac, Looks like you went to Arizona. Give us the details. What part of the state were you in, how hard was the hunting, how was your trip? Public land? Nice job, I'm jealous now and might have to look at Southwest's schedule.

Topwtr-Elvis,
Where you been hideing/hunting? Chasen ducks on the red river?
How is your bunch doing? We got lucky and the Mallards showed up two weeks ago...

I lined up a bunch of Quail dogs for this weekend, so who knows...
Did you hear our neighbors in Truscott -
(Circle Bar Ranch - deer lease group) shot a 173 class B&C 14 point buck this season, then got another 164 class 10 pointer?
It has been real quite up there this season...I guess everyone is staying close to home this year... The Brine Lake has had very few hunters all season... It sure is full of Mallards and big ducks....
