Alright I shot a doe at 8:05. Shot her for 20 she was at 23. Hit a touch low. Ran to 60 yds and instantly laid down got up and laid down again then got up and walked off. She had something hanging out of her exit side about 6" long. Good blood and a pass through. But I'm worried why she didn't die the the first or second time she laid down. Reassurance please fellas!!

Lung tissue hanging maybe. If you got good blood back off an hour or two. She will die soon if theres a lot of blood spilt

I would wait 30-45 minutes then check the shot area for blood and look for the arrow. I would not trail any till I seen what the blood looked like and color. Check the arrow also. I would wait at least 1 hour depending on the blood, I might wait 2-3 hrs.

I'd give her at least 2 hours. Just make sure you don't push her by not waiting long enough. I also hope what you saw hanging out was not guts.

Lung tissue hanging out? Sounds like maybe some guts hanging out.
To the OP, you are going to get a lot of opinions on internet site, so take it for what its worth, as none of us are there with you. If you got a double lung, deer probably would have stayed down the first time.
What dis deee do when you hit it? Hunch up? Mule kick? What did arrow smell like? Color of blood?
Slightly quartering to you is not good. Sounds like arrow may have exited and guts are hanging.

Trust me I'll take all the opinions I can get. She wasn't hunched up even when walking off. I'm still in the blind waiting for some more deer to leave before I go look at arrow and blood

What dis deee do when you hit it?
interesting choice of words
If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

She was almost broadside, I mean I gave up the shoulder alittle bit (which I shouldn't have done) but the stuff hanging out wasn't behind ribcage for sure.

I think if it was quartering too you and the exit was only 3 inches off the shoulder your deer would be down for the count before it made it to 60 yards.
I would think you hit a little further back, which is very easy to do got into the guts and its much more likely that's what is hanging out the exit. A gutshot deer on a humid day like today Id say give it an hour or so and start your search.
It's hell eatin em live

Ground blind and very slightly quartering to me Quartering to you? You might have caught liver and gut. Was the blood very dark colored?

When you leave the blind like all have said blood color matters, how the arrow smells matters, her reaction right after the shot matters, and of course blood trail.
Take all this in account before trailing her. If you got liver/guts wait an extra hour. If you think it's a lung when you get to the trail, knock an arrow and follow the trail.
