Anyone ever found a snake in their trailer?

I've got mine stored out at the lease now by an old house and shop building. Sure they are everywhere around me. Killed a total of 6 snakes in the past week close by too.. I spent hours sealing up the floor and holes I could find with steel wool then expanding foam....hoping nothing gets in but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Been keeping the dryer sheets inside for mice. Any ideas on keeping snakes out?

We have never had a snake get into one of our campers or the cabin. That is not say they can't, it is just they never have.

We have had more reports of snakes this year than I can ever remember. I wonder if this is any indication of what our winter is going to be like.

They are out in numbers this year. Cousin of mine has a place up the road from me and killed 14 last weekend.

I think it's called Dr t snake away. Put some rat poison inside, then put the snake away around your buildings. Works well.

I would think the first thing is to keep the mice out. Next, make sure the area is free of debris which would give mice a home.

Was watching one of the rattle snake shows on Discovery, and the guy had a team come work on his place. The home owner was seeing more than usual.

From what the snake guys said, the Home owner had a several brush piles, waiting to get burned, to close to the house. It was drawing rodents in, and thus the snakes.

The brush piles were stacking up because of the burn ban due to the drought.

Anyway, seems logical to me. Make sure there are no food sources close by to your trailer.

There is one thing worse than finding a snake in the camper...

Finding a shed skin in the camper!

I agree with what everyone else is saying. I'll add do not leave any type of food, or food products in the camper when you are not there as these will attract the rodents, which then attracts the snakes. If possible, never eat inside the cabin because you will be leaving crumbs behind that will attract rodents.

My mom found a snake skin in her house a few months ago. She lives at the lake and the house is about 6ft off the ground. Fast forward a couple months down the road and she finds a live one in the kitchen. Not sure if it was the one that left the skin but she said it wasn't doing to well. Very lethargic(sp).

If it happened on our place they would be gone, looking for a new place.

Get some old golf balls and leave them under your place or anywhere. Snakes think they are eggs, eat them, and it plugs them up, no more snake.

I always heard of moth balls doing the trick on snakes, we used them a lot and never had snakes. Since we can find moth balls anymore, I have killed one inside camp this year with a big bright red FORD f-250. The snake had a lot of fight in him, had to use the truck, only option I had at the time.

YEP.... I found a Rat Snake under a box on the couch one weekend. I evicted him to the brush. Next time I went out I noticed I had a mouse problem. I sure wish I could find that dang snake now.

Give me a Rat Snake over the destruction of mice any day.

i heard somewhere they put a white rope on the ground and the snakes wont cross over it....i was thinking this is the same theory behind the new cricket boxes for fishing. there is no net or lid on the container, just a white stripe around the top rim. i have seen it in action, and it works, crickets wont cross it. be cool if someone had time to test this on rattle snakes???? any volunteers? ohhh cmon!!!

i agree..depending on the kind of snake of course, that snakes are better than mice/rats..this excludes poisonous snakes and we will just throw in black widow spiders because they are deadly as a rattle snake and most folks sluff it off as nothing. fer the kids who dont know here is a link

hard to keep snakes out..kinda like rats and mice, if they can get their head in, they get all the way in. my buddy has an albino burmese python and it pops the locks on the cages sometimes just flexin its muscles, not much of a feat for a snake to make a hole a lil bigger.

love the steel wool with spray foam idea, gives it a lil structure..thx, gonna use that fer sure.

Moth-balls in a butter tub. When you leave, remove the lid. When you get to camp, put the lid on and open all the doors and windows for a couple hours while you fill feeders or BS around camp. Keeps EVERYTHING away.

We had a Ratsnake in our camper a few years ago. Decided then and there to build our cabin/house. It's pier and beam. Have killed 3-4 rattlers that came out from under it. Gonna' put Hardi-board around the perimeter. That'll fix 'em.
