I would go with Steiners for sure. They are very clear and pretty durable. Also, the customer service with Steiner is unbeatable. I had a 5 year old pair that was dropped and they didnt focus right after the drop. I contacted Steiner and they gave me a brand new pair of the newer model. Thats worth the extra money...

I have some Nikon Monarch 10x42 and they are great!
My wife's only thing is it can't stare at her when she is eating or sleeping!

Same here, no problems yet and had them for around 5 years. With a lifetime warranty you cant go wrong. But as with everything, you will be the only one that can tell if they are good enough for you. Opinions are great, but not everyones eyes are the same.
Go to a store and try them all, when your done, try them again. Only then will you know which are good enough for you.

Once again I would like to thank the forum for all the useful information. I just went on my lunch break and bought some Nikon Action Series. When I weighed all of my options, I realized that I was hard pressed to spend twice as much as I did when I was happy with the ones I found. I went with the identical binos that my father in law had. Already test drove those last weekend. Thanks for all the insight.
