I'll have that experience in about 2 hours when I go out for an antelope. There's a 90%chance of snow. I guess that's not technically rain but it's gonna be coming down none the less. Lucky man.

Some of the best bird hunts I've had were in the driving snow, 70MPH winds, steady light rain, or sleet.
It's a drag to hunt a deer when it's 85 degrees. The tend to stay nocturnal when it's that darn warm.

My experience is deer do not alter their movement in a light rain, but right after a heavy rain they seem to be pretty active.

It's a drag to do anything in 85° weather.

I have killed plenty in the rain. And that is why I bought rain gear.

If it's pouring rain with lightning I'll seek shelter, but as soon as it stops especially after a prolonged period of time the deer will move like crazy. I killed my personal best a B&C 158 12pt. immediately after a front passed through with heavy rain and lightening. I drove to the lease and stayed in the cabin until the storm passed and then I went out when the heavy stuff moved past. This has been a proven pattern many times over the years. One of the best pieces of information any deer hunter can know. And with the technology that we have today that allows you to view weather radar images from practically anywhere, you can leave camp knowing you're likely to be in your stand and ready once the rain stops. I will never forget the time I climbed out of my tripod to seek shelter under a tree when a heavy shower came through right at dawn on morning. After it passed, I walked back over to the stand and started climbing the ladder. Before I reached the top, a small buck was stepping into my food plot. My experience has always been that deer will feed and move in light rain, but prefer shelter in heavier rain. But once that heavy rain or prolonged moderate rain is over, the game gets started quick.

I've killed several deer over the years while it was raining or just after. I've seen deer when it was hot, cold, raining, sleeting, and snowing. The only weather condition that has consistently skunked me was high wind.

Heavy rain and lightning - stay home and watch football
Light rain and cool - be in your stand
