Just curious. I'm not a big bone hunter anymore (never really was) but I do hunt Africa as much as I can. I see deer hunts for $7500 and up for one big deer but I can hunt 4 big antelope in 7 days in Africa for less than 10K airfare included. Why is that not more interesting than only one animal? I'm being serious with this question as I just agreed to help an outfitter in Namibia with some of his marketing next year and I'm looking for answers to possible questions or hesitant hunters on going to Africa when I do conventions. Thanks guys for any replies. I'd really like to hear your side of it. If you'd like to give me an opinion of our website (good or bad)I'd appreciate that also www.go2aricanow.com Africa is a place I would like to go once, but there are so many other hunts I would rather go on first. First, I don't pay $7500 for one animal. I pay considerably less, but it isn't for one animal. It is for the experience. I have access to land in Texas and Kansas year around, I can do my own scouting, I can hunt my own way, I can go with a friend or I can enjoy the woods by myself. I can sit by the fire, I can take my little ones, and I can take my wife. I have the time to enjoy the woods and enjoy the animal I am hunting. I appreciate and respect deer and it isn't all about the kill for me. I feel like Africa is a place you go to kill. I have never heard of someone getting "skunked" in Africa. Most that I have talked too said it was great, they loved it, but there wasn't much of a challenge to the hunt. Herds of animals and you pick one. Guess the same can be said for some of the whitetail hunts for $7k The adventure and experience would be great though and I hope to go one day. Now, you get into the big cats, elephants, buffalo, etc...we aren't talking about the same thing and you aren't getting one for $7k.

Once one has tracked a herd of Cape Buffalo for 3 days through the mopane and then had to shoot your bull charging you full on inside 20 yards, it pretty much takes all the fun out of shooting a Texas whitetail over a pile of corn. Just sayin......

Put aside 50 grand for Africa, then start saving. If you are going to Africa, don't go on the cheap, because you will get cheap. Stay for at least 2 weeks if not 3 and hunt at least one of the big 5. For most, it's a trip of a lifetime, so go and enjoy it without worrying about how much $$$.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?
