Does anyone leave out decoys for a day or two to draw ducks to a body of water. I have seen guys leave goose decoys to get them to hit a field. I wouldn't leave them more than two days. Still alot of birds in the area to bring in and i was Just wondering if anyone has had luck with this.

On private it may not be a bad idea.
Any creature in my vicinity that possesses an explosive penis is going to be killed.

Iv always liked to pick them up... imo they prolly don't like it when their new friends don't talk back to them and would avoid the area... how long would you hang out with a manikin?

I did this once with a nice set of fairly expensive decoys on a private place. We noticed in a couple days they had been molested by a resident beaver and he ruined a couple for me.

I never do but someone did leave me a couple last year on my private little tank. 6 blue bill decoys. Idk who's they were but I'm the only one allowed to hunt there so I ended up with a few new decoys.

I never thought it was a good idea. Every seen a duck swim up to a decoy? When they figure out that it is not real, it kinda freaks them out, and they swim off. How can that be good?

I only leave my decoys out to save my spot on public lakes. never to educate the birds about decoys.
I like spoonie, his humor is dryer than my duck lease.

Everytime I let birds land in decoys, they swim around them for a few seconds realize something isn't right and either fly off or swim off. Except for redheads, they just swim around in them all day if you let them.

Private Property yes...Public you just become a victim of theft I'm not sure id call it theft, you get what you ask for by leaving your decoys out on public. I wouldn't ever take someone's decoys on public but I would move them out of the way. Leaving them out is pretty much like putting a FREE sign over them.

I'm not one to post serious responses, but this topic bothers me. I really can't believe that many of you leave your decoys out. It's a pet peeve of mine. When I was on a lease I drove around looking at spreads peopl left out and called them all douche bags in my head.
The ONLY way I can see this being advantageous is if you have a huge spread that takes too much time to pick up and put back out, and you are hunting flight birds that are moving through the migration. Birds that know the area are not going to go mingle with decoys and feed amongst them.
Like stated earlier, when birds land in your spread, they don't stay long.
Except teal. Teal dont care.
I like spoonie, his humor is dryer than my duck lease.

If you are where there are new ducks daily then its ok. When the peanuts were in Parker county the old guys I hunted with as kid left em out all season, but they were also hunting big deep core lakes that the ducks were flying in to loaf on after feeding in the fields. Its really not a good idea because it pretty much ruins your decoys. Old guy I hunted with owned a hunting store so he got em cheap btw

I always pick up, even on private. Too many people willing to take them in my opinion.

Bad idea UV light and paint don't go well together. Plus they are liable to be stolen or ruined somehow

how long would you hang out with a manikin? Longer than I care to divulge on this internet forum... I never use more than two dozen at the most and those are really easy to pick up and pack in... I pick 'em up at the end of the hunt because they'll be gone if I don't
Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

Depends on if she was a Lane Brant manikin or a Victoria Secretes manikin! ... how long would you hang out with a manikin?
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.
