What are y'all's recommendations on a good goose load? Also, what are some good calls to get started with?
Any creature in my vicinity that possesses an explosive penis is going to be killed.

I like 3.5" Hevi-Metal BB. As for calls, everyone will tell you to go try several out. The problem is, until you are a decent caller, you will not know which call suits you best.
I would recommend the Mick Lacey Chinook to start out. Its a cheap call to learn on, and it breaks over very easy for a beginner. Although I have several nicer calls, I still use this as one of my finisher calls, because it makes great moans and murmers.
For a more expensive call, and if you dont have a problem supporting the company, the foiles strait meat honker is a greta beginner call. very little back pressure required.

3" BB
As far as calls go, for snows I like Sean Mann's calls, also have a Glynn Scoby that isn't bad, it just does a basic bark and murmur.
For specks if you're going cheap, i used to use the primos shaved reed speck call...go easy on the air and it will sound like a snow. I upgraded and bought an acrylic Sean Mann speck call and it's by far the best speck call i've ever used.

For loads it is important to pattern your gun and know what Choke/Loads work well out of your particular setup. For me in my Browning Cynergy I use Carlson IM in the Top Barrel and Carlson LF in the Bottom Barrel with Hevi Shot Speed Ball 3 inch BB. That setup allows for shooting from 13 - 51 yards and 20 - 64 yards with a good pattern. Last year I used Black Cloud BB but had several failures and have switched this year. That Combination worked well this last weekend.
In my Benelli SBE II, I use Briley WaterFowl Long Range for Long Shots with 3inch HeviMetal BB and I am good out to 67 yards but any thing under 23 is a crap shoot. If the shoots are closer I switch to Carlson IM with the HeviMetal BB and can do well from 14 yards out to 53 yards. My gun also patterns 3 inch HeviMetal Number 2s and can actually extend the useful pattern out to 71 yards but that is really pushing it...
Best advise is to get you a couple of boxes of shells and some cardboard. Go out and pattern your chokes/loads. Use that data to make the decision on what you think is best for your setup.

I killed lots of cranes last year with 3" #2's so I'm trying them on geese this year.

How do you like the Speed Ball? I thought about tryong some, but thats expensive stuff. If you can afford to pattern different chokes, its a good idea. But that can be pricy. Carlson's pattern the best out of the few different brands I've tried.

The only thing I do not like about the Speed Ball is the WAD, it gets out there further than I think it should. I have written and talked to the guys at HeviShot about this so hopefully they will work on that. Otherwise down range performance is pretty dang good.
I like the Carlson Choke Tubes the best, Briley Tubes are ok, but I have just had better luck with Carlson Tubes.
Black Cloud is just not that good...
