When I was a teenager we did it with a golf club. It was great
practice for your swing.

My cousin and I, used to light firecracker's/stick em in their mouth's and yell "Bonzai"! while we hurled those suckers, as far as we could.
Other than that, I have no other ideas.  a Woman after my own heart. We did that with Cicadas. Stuck firecrackers in their abdomen and let 'em fly. Fun times for sure.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it.

I'd be gathering them up.... probably get a buck or two for each toad.... great bug eaters....
