I just called a local meat market in Tyler and the gentlemen said that the state came in and told him that he can no longer skin a deer for you that you have to bring the animal skinned and cleaned for him to process the meat. Have any of you heard of this? Is there any other locations around Tyler that will take Deer and Hogs?

My word of advice is to do some reading and learn to process your own. For us it is cheap and satisfying. If you shoot 3 or more deer in a year you can probably pretty easily set yourself up with equipment to do it that will last the rest of your lifetime and you kids as well.

^Best advice. We started doing our own and its becoming kinda a family gathering and celebration. When a deer is killed, the calls are made and everybody shows up to pitch in. All the ladies head to the kitchen and start cooking a big meal, all the guys start skinning, quartering, processing, and grinding.

Wow yeah that's strange. I do all my own except summer sausage but I know an excellent processor outside Tyler in mineola. Let me know if you need his info.
