I just took over a new lease as the lease manager and the owner of the neighboring place has a high fence. We have a feeder and a bow stand 100yds off of the high fence can barely see it from the stand. The neighbor is saying we cant put up a stand there it is to close. What do you guys think. Thanks

Move it closer to the fence so he knows where you are and won't shoot that way, maybe he won't.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Why does he care since his side is high fenced anyway? His deer will stay captured on his side, and yours will have to stay on your side. Is it a safety issue where you're in the line of fire of one of his stands? If not, then I'd tell him as soon as he takes the high fence down, you'll be happy to sit with him and work out what's best for both properties. Otherwise, as Uncle Si would say, "Nah".

Too close.. You'll be pissed when the guy comes riding the fence line on his four wheeler while you're hunting. It is really a question of ethics rather than what the law says. Just my two cents.

There are a world of variables that should be taken into account. We don't know the intended use for your lease, nor what he uses his for. If day hunting is involved on either side, 100 yds. from the fence line is probably too close. We don't know what he has in close proximity to the spot you propose to put the feeder and stand.Hunter activity on your side will affect the game on his side. We don't know the orientation of the set up, if the shots will be fired in the direction of the fence or not. We don't know the terrain, if there is an open view from your stand into his property. It's your call, hunting is a dangerous activity and it would be best to err on the side of prudence.

Put the feeder where you want, but remember your landowner and the HF landowner are neighbors. You tick off your landowner this might be a one year lease.

One of our neighbors to the south of us has a HF. When his Doe go into estrus and the wind is from the south, which it usually is, it pulls bucks from across the HWY onto our land. We have an Oat patch next to their high fence. They have no problem as long as we don't shoot through their fence. I'd make sure that it never happens.

So are you saying that the Low Fence bucks prefer Hi Fence Doe? or that the Hi Fence bucks cant breed the Hi Fence does? or That there are no does outside the Hi Fence to attract the Low Fence bucks? or what exactly is it that draws them to the fence? or do all bucks naturally follow their nose whichever way the wind blows?

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

Upside is, whatever you decide, you don't have to worry about that old argument of, "if you don't do what I say, I'll high fence you out!"

Maybe a little more info from the neighbor would be appropriate. Does he know its a bow stand? He might think bullets could likely end up on his side of the fence. There are a million reasons that he may be concerned, but its probably best to talk with him to get all the details. DC is right...make the neighbor mad and yall might be up for a new lease next year.
Having said that, shot placement is key and there is only one level of dead. Us east Texans can't afford turquoise and elk ivories for jewelry. So we use hog tushes and coon peckers.

He has a bunch of deer. We don't. 5000 acre place across the road has a bunch, it's in an unhunted subdivision called "Mountain lakes" community. I've even seen bucks fighting through the fence. I haven't seen a buck on camera in 2-3 months. But when the rut starts they'll be all over the place. I believe that to be true. They DO follow their nose, whichever way the wind blows, if they smell fresh doe.

Probably need to find out if they are rifle hunting on the high fence ranch. Could be dangerous for you. I personally would just move it a safe distance away. Besides, I would not want to look at deer I couldn't shoot

I don't see the problem if its a bowstand for one and they have a highfence also.... they may be doing a little more than hunting in there... I wouldn't move it...not a chance

A lot of places use the 400yd rule. That puts 2400 feet between hunters along a fence-line. You might still kill somebody even at that distance. Or you may be killed even at that distance. If you have the room then why press your luck? If your hunting a small place you will just have to risk it.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

In situations like that I just do the complete opposite of what they tell me. Soo... Put it right on the fence line.
