Heres some pics from our first round of checking cameras this year on our place in Lampasas County. This first group of pics is from one feeder that typically has bachelor groups of bucks coming to it. It can be a great spot to hunt, especially during October before the bucks split up and start getting interested in does. Be sure to look in the backgrounds of the pics close. There are some deer farther in the background that you can zoom in on. In the last pic there is one nice buck bedded down in the back right of the picture that I didn't even notice until the 3rd or 4th time I looked through the pics. Any opinions on age or which deer you would be after are welcomed.

Next group of pics are from 2 different areas. Sure wish I had some better pictures of the deer on the left in the first 2 pics. These are the only pictures we got of him.

Whats your guys thoughts on what may have caused the strange rack on this last deer? Genetics, injury, break off during antler development? I have my theory but am curious what you guys think.

I would go after the deer all the way to the left in the 2nd picture. Hard to tell how old he is from just that pic though. He looks like a 8 with weak brows and g3's but still a nice deer. I would let the 10 and most the other deer go another year or 2 and I think they would really jump up. I think the deer in the last pick probably just injured it early in velvet but thats just my guess. Good looking bucks.

I would give the broken antlered deer another year. You have plenty of deer. I think it would be to your advantage to let him go, I bet he would be one of your real dandy's next year! Just my 2 cents.

I agree. That buck in the back is nice. He wouldn't last at our ranch.

If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

I had the buck in the back left of the 2nd picture come in at 7 am opening morning. I though about sticking him but decided to let him walk. He ate corn 20 yards from me for about 40 minutes.

Nice bucks up

That buck with the bad right side is gonna be a hoss if he makes it to next year and that right side matches the left.
