I am gonna get a ground blind, what do you guys think about the shoot thru mesh? I was prolly gonna use fixed blades and my shots will be 25 yards or less.
Will it affect accuracy or arrow speed much at all?
thx

I don't trust it. I like to keep things simple and that is one more thing to go wrong. If you do, practice, practice, practice out of it. Make sure you are confident there is no deflection before shooting out of it. Good luck

Its easy enough to replace. I would suggest that if you get one with a large window on two sides like Rhino or Double Bull, then set it up with the mesh up and shoot out of it. Definitely dont use mechanicals. The mesh is great for immediate set ups. Leaving too large of an open window can spook game. If you leave the blind for a few days the game can get used to it. Regardless make sure to leave windows closed behind you. Sit as far back as possible. Dark gloves and face mask will be good too.

I do not want nothing touching or making contact with my arrow when shot.

I do not want nothing touching or making contact with my arrow when shot. I'm the same way; I've heard many say they don't have a problem, but I sure wouldn't want to miss the buck of a life time. I've hunted a lot of pop up's and I've never had a problem getting busted because I didn't use the mesh.

Ive never tried it but I would not want to try shooting a mechanical broadhead through it.

I have a Double Bull T2 that's 10+ years old the front net has been shot through so much its barely hanging on and I still shoot through right now with no problems. I bet I've killed 3 dozen animals out of that thing and the net has never effected a shot.

Never tried and never will. Just too iffy, will it effect flight or not? Some say it is ok as long as it is stretched real tight and not loose. Not taking the chance for me.

If it effects the arrow then why do people paper tune their bow? Wouldn't all the results from the paper tuning be wrong if the flight was effected?

If it effects the arrow then why do people paper tune their bow? Wouldn't all the results from the paper tuning be wrong if the flight was effected? I think you don't know much about paper tuning. There is a big difference between paper tuning to get an idea of how the arrow is flying and mesh. First your shooting through paper at dang near point blank range. into a target right behind it. Who cares how the paper effects the arrow, that is not relevant. The way the arrow cuts the paper is, is your arrow flying straight and true through the paper or is it wobbling, casting, or flying through it sideways. Mesh on the other hand is tougher than paper and is not a uniform plane. It is wrinkled, tighter in one axis than another, and not uniform in its cross section. Oh yeah and beyond that is an animal that deserves that you make every effort to lay it down cleanly. Mesh is just a variable that I don't want to contend with when trying to take an animal cleanly. I have had deer at less than 5 yards from my pop up with no mesh. If you wear black from head to toe and stay as far back in the blind as you can, you won't get busted. The darkness is your friend in a pop-up.

Chuck I'm not gonna argue with ya but after 20+ years bow hunting and 50+ animals taken with recurve and compound I know a little about arrow flight and if you don't think a poorly tuned arrow won't tear net then you haven't shot through a net much. Ill say this then a properly tuned arrows flight will not be effected by the net, ask my freezer full of back straps they can vouch for it.

I never said it wouldn't tear net. You statement seemed to say shooting through net and paper are the same. So the arrows flight should be the same.
There is no way arrow flight after piercing the paper or net will be the same because each media has different properties.

One is seeing the results on paper as it passed through the other is the results on the arrow after it passed through. I see no comparison. I don't shoot through mesh, I don't trust it. Theres no guarantee the tension on the net will be equal all around the cut, especially if it's been shot through before.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Killed a buck last year at 30 yards thru mesh with a rage 2. Previous year got busted with windows opened. Practiced with my block beforehand and arrow was right on the money thru the mesh, so I felt confident. According to the rage website it was designed not to open thru mesh. Whatever you do. Keep the window behind you closed.

I have rhino blinds and the original double bull blinds and not once have i ever had an issue with shooting through the mesh. Just make sure you don't use mechanicals. If your worried about it affecting your shot set your blind up and place a few shots through the mesh to see what happens...
