I am trying to find a traditional type of hunting sling for my AR - not wanting one of the actical type of slings.

I have the stud in the forearm for a the swivel part of the sling but guess I need a loop of for the buttstock. Its a magpul adjustable stock. Do they make a stud or some other accessory that would accomodate the other end of a traditional sling?

Went to Cabelas yesterday and the one guy thta was helping e try to figure this out was pretty much "modifying" (to put it midly) a double looped sling. It would work but the sling wasnt even padded.

Let me know what solutions you guys have come up with.

Thanks.

What stock do you have on your rifle?

This one is for an Ar-15A2

Look at a viking tactical padded sling. The only thing tactical about it is that it has a quick let out. I have one on my AR and use it as a "hunting" type sling.

I freaking love it. I carry it on my shoulder or across my back. You can cinch it up tight so that it doesn't move. But the quick release let's me get the gun quickly when a pig magically appears.

There are multiple "adjustable Magpul" stocks. I assume you have the MOE stock, without any QD mounts. Just thread the sling through the slots. If you have a QD mount, get one and use your basic sling.

I just ordered a Vicker's sling (which I'm excited about). I as happy with my VTAC sling. They are "tactical" slings, but no reason you can't use them on a "hunting" rig.

otherwise, a cheap piece padded slings at Walmart should work.

Best AR sling money can buy!

Walking in the woods, and need hands free? Suck it up to your chest.

Don't want it on you chest? Loosen it, flip it around to you back and tighten it up to your back. Genius!

nidea

The 7 Rem Mag doesn't have a sling yet. I may bastardize a VTac buy threading it through swivels and putting it on the bolt gun. I'll try that on my AR sling before I buy one, but I bet it works great!

I'm sure you have one. The rear of the sling threads through the buttstock of the AR, and the front threads through a sling swivel. Why not thread the rear through a sling swivel and attach it to bolt gun?

The major difference is that, on the AR, the rear of the sling is coming off the high side of the stock, on a bolt gun it will be attached to the bottom of the stock. I'm at the fire station today. Tomorrow I'll pilfer the the sling from my AR, and see how well it works on a bolt gun. I really like the quick adjustment of length, and the padding on the sling.

Just take your sling to work and play with it between naps, grilling, and video games
