Im looking at investing quite a bit of money in a good piece of glass and a s2 from weatherby. Anyone own one or has shot one that has feedback. I have seeen many reviews online about them but trust this community more than the non-texans... positives and negatives are greatly appreciated.

I have one in 243 and one in 308. Both group very well with cheap core-lofts and we have taken 5 deer over the past 2 seasons with them. They are definetly more accurate than I am and I wouldn't hesitate to but another one if I needed another caliber. The recoil pad on the factory stock is very nice as well
Thanks, Rich

Vanguards are an _excellent_ value for what they cost.

Thanks guys! Is it truely a sub moa out of the box as the advertisement says?
I could see them advertising this then if it didnt shoot as advertised weatherby would then tell me its the shooter not the firearm...
Keep the opinions and feedback coming!

I have the S2 in 7mm-08 and it shoots 3/4" groups all day. The S2 trigger is two stage and is very good. I also shoot the prior generation Vanguard Deluxe in .257 Weatherby which is also sub MOA but the trigger is not as crisp and light as the S2.
Take it from someone who owns and shoots them that Weatherby is a great deal.
No need to do action bedding on the S2 in my opinion for the synthetic stocks.

I have the first version and it shoots sub MOA with Federal soft points. I've tried all kinds of ammo but it loves these cheap guys from Wal-Mart. Great value for the money compared to the competition.

testing a 20" 7mm08 right now .3" group in first box of shell.s it's a shooter.. stock fits good, nice trigger
Working with Weatherby on a new project with a 16" threaded barrel in 7mm08 or 308
Should have one in a few weeks to test..

I have two series 2 Weatherby Vanguard. One of them is a 300 Winchester short mag and the other is a 257 Weatherby. Out of the box with factory ammo the 300 Winchester short mag shot .68 (with handloads it is sub .5) and the 257 point .327 groups at 100 yards. The value and accuracy of these guns are unrivaled from the factory. The two stage trigger is awesome and it is hard for me to buy a more expensive done because of these!
the only thing I do not like about these are the stock. They are pretty sturdy but just feel cheap. This is just my 2 cents
