Does anyone have any insight on a Remington 1917 30-06?

Nice military rifle. Heavy, but great for rechambering to big bores. Weatherby used this action before they came up with the Mark V. As is, it is a [censored] on close which some find distracting. If it is in full military dress, and numbers match, it may be worth some money. I have a Winchester sporterized in .30-06 and a P-14 (same action made for England) rechambered to .300 Win. mag. Guess I like them.

Remington and Winchester were contracted to make Enfields for Britain, but when the USA entered WWI Remington and Winchester continued making the Enfield but modified for 30-06 instead of retooling to make Springfield rifles.

Remington made just over half a million 1917s and a subsidiary of Remington made about 2 million.

They saw service in WWII and limited use in Korea and Vietnam.

I believe Remington used this action on the Model 30 which was a well built commercial rifle.

Yup. There was such a demand for sporterized M1917s in the public sector, Remington made the Model 30 for commercial sale, about 30,000.
