You joined the Velcro dog team. I have meet both Buck Henderson from back yard training in Van Alstyn and David Egger at Rio Cocho kennels in San Angelo . Would suggest them both, I worked with them both at TX NAVDHA training days, I am talking to each of them to take my Vizsla to do some formal training. I know two people who have had David train there V dogs! That says a lot to me, he good at the versatile training, Buck has the only EP trained for MH. Interview any trainer and have them show you the work through other interview process.

Good luck with your search.... By the way which breeder did you get your pup from?

X2 on the above. Dave and Buck might both be out at our training on Oct 5 in Decatur.

Are you planning on training your vizsla to only point or are you going to train it to be a versatile dog?

John, what are wanting from the dog? Versatility, range, what are you hunting? Mainly family pet? Are you wanting training lessons or to leave the dog for 4 months? I wouldn't recommend NAVHDA across the board. I'd like to know more.

If you want to learn to train a dog, I'd suggest Ronnie Sale at Free Flight Kennels in Jonesboro, TX 254-463-9000. Spend some time learning to train dogs, learning to read dogs, learning to work them. It'll pay off in the end.

ds74 we have a training day this Saturday in Decatur Sept 14. Most will meet at Braum's in Decatur off 287 at 6:30 am and we will leave at 6:45. Will be training at the Valley View Site in the grass lands. We will also be getting together to train in October on the 5th same time and place. I thing Dave Eggar will be there to help and Buck usually makes a training too.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Jason

Thanks,
I'm on board now. See y'all there.

I'm tempted to make up a sticky post here in the dog forum for upcoming dog events, hunt tests, trials, training days, seminars, etc. I missed one with the trinity valley vizsla club last month because I knew nothing about it till now too.
